Environment Programme Intern

UNDP is recruiting an Environment Programme Intern, to be based in Luanda, Angola.
Duties
  • Under the overall guidance of the Program Specialist, the incumbent will provide overall support to the Environment program (EP) ensuring high quality of work, accurate, timely and properly recorded/documented service delivery. The EP Assistant promotes a client-oriented approach consistent with rules and regulations in the Unit
  • The EP Assistant works in close collaboration with the other team members of the EP and with other project staff in the CO and UN agencies staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery
  • Ensures efficient technical and administrative support to the Environment Program (EP), focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Preparation of routine letters, correspondence, memoranda and reports in accordance with EP needs
  • Conducting literature and internet searches and organizing information for use by other team members
  • Organizing conference calls and meetings
  • Participating in meetings with Government and other program partners and preparing meeting notes
  • Helping in the preparation of Terms of Reference, contracts and related payment processes
  • Helping in the organization of project related travel by other team members and government counterparts
  • Participating in the preparation of quarterly project reports, monitoring reports, and project related communications
Requisites

  • Enrolled student in a master degree programme or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme; (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in biological or environmental science or related social sciences
  • Have graduated with a university degree biological or environmental science or related and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation
  • No experience required
  • Fluency in Portuguese and good working knowledge of English
  • Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP:
  • Conditions Of Internship:
  • UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship
  • All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring government or institutions
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship
  • Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity
