BP is recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor, to be based in Luanda, Angola.
Duties
  • Advising on continuously improving HSE-related performance
  • Coach the HSE Site Leads on their leadership of regulatory requirements, BP HSE Practices, Procedures and Guidelines (2.2)
  • Coach the HSE site Leads and their leadership on systematic approaches to identifying and addressing HSE risks in their Area Operations/Sites (2.2)
  • Coach HSE Site leads and their leadership in identifying sources of energy and the use of the "hierarchy of control" (4.5)
  • Provide technical expertise to field personnel with regards to BP Policy and regulatory requirements relating to HSE through provision of training on relevant HSE issues and participation in Team meetings (3.2/3.4)
  • Liaise with specialist resource in health, environment, regulatory compliance, crisis and continuity management on issue resolution
  • Support the line in maintaining HSE risk profile/registers to ensure that workplace/operational hazards are properly documented and controlled (3.1)
  • Support Incident Investigations as required to determine root causes and development of corrective actions and coordinate responses with line leadership (4.4)
  • Provide technical content in the development of HSE procedures (3.2)
  • Lead investigations as a skilful (L1) level investigator
  • Conducting HSE-related self-verification and supporting self-verification plans
  • Lead implementation of an annual H&S verification programme for the area (8.2)
  • Lead periodic H&S self verification assessments on sites to assess whether a safe and compliant working environment is being maintained, people are appropriately trained and competent in the work they conduct, and that current work practices are in line with the approved procedures (8.2)
  • Support the management of regional H&S self verification process, tools and analysis
  • Maintain the H&S self verification materials and systems for the region
  • Maintain content for regional Safe Practices Manual
  • Issuing and maintaining HSE-related procedures and guidance
  • Provide technical content in the development of HSE procedures (3.2)
  • Provide input to development of Procedures to incorporate HSE mitigations to all identified risks
  • Conducting HSE-related activities in support of OMS conformance and HSE regulatory compliance
  • Collate, analyse and report Area Operations HSE data (8.1)
  • Support HSE training needs identification for personnel on sites (2.2)
Requisites
  • Qualifications - Degree in Engineering, Science, HSE related required, CSP or IOSH - Chartered member or Certification in an IOHA National Accreditation
  • Proven track record in coaching and developing capabilities
  • Proven track record in driving HSE performance, and analysing HSE records
  • Proven track record in leading skillful level investigation
  • Indicative years of relevant experience 5 - 7 years
  • Offshore operation experience is a preference
  • Strong Leadership and Management skills
  • Ability to team work, coach and develop competencies
  • Strong analytical skills
