BP is recruiting a Above Area Controller, to be based in Luanda, Angola.
Duties
- Support the Angola Region’s Head of Control in continuing to develop our Block 18 and 31 Area Controllers in all matters relating to Accounting, Reporting and Control (ARC) for their respective areas.
- Support Area Controllers in continuing to implement and operate effective and efficient standard processes as it relates to financial internal controls, financial reporting and the application of accounting policy within their respective Areas
- Support HoC with any functional support that is not covered by the Area Controllers and provide overview of the Payroll and Office (P&O) costs
- Review and challenge BP100% costs and own the Residual ledgers
- Support Area Controllers in delivering Area Financial Reporting and ensure compliance with Group Accounting and Reporting Requirements
- Support Area Controllers with any issues that may arise as part of their due diligence process, including impairment reviews and intangible certification
- Support the Head of Control in understanding the end to end of both the Luanda and Sunbury P&O allocations and ensure that this is accurately reported to the business
- Ensure that all the Residual financial reporting is prepared in accordance with BP requirements
- Fulfil the role of Account Owner for all Residual accounts
- Support the Head of Control in all ad-hoc activities that relate to the Region but does not belong to a specific area. This will include all functional data requests
- Monitor and drive completion of the preparation of all Residual MWO’s and ensure all relevant activities have MWO’s in place in a timely manner, are appropriately tracked and are maintained in accordance with PSA requirements
- Provide control support to the Area Controllers as it relates to business activities and provide advice on accounting and control matters including ARC functional assurance of FMs / AFEs
- Maintain a Finance One Team environment and control connectivity with the business as it relates to Payroll & Office costs across the Region
- Provide support and leadership to system implementations / enhancements
- Provide continuous coaching to the Block 18 and 31 Area Controllers to enable them to undertake their roles effectively
- Actively participate and support the Angola Finance team HSSE agenda
- Actively participate as a member of the ARC Control Leadership team
Requisites
- Accounting degree
- Must hold a recognised professional accounting qualification PQE (ACA, ACMA, ACCA, CPA etc.)
- A recognised professional Accounting qualification (ACA, ACMA, ACCA, CPA, etc.)
- At least 15 years post qualification experience in the oil and gas industry
- Proven strong analytical, financial control and accounting skills
- A capacity to work simultaneously on multiple tasks sometimes with conflicting priorities
- Proven ability to coach and develop employees
- Strong cultural and diversity awareness
- Excellent inter personal skills and ability to establish first class relationships across all aspects of the business
- Strong cultural and diversity awareness
- Strong working knowledge of SAP
- Previous experience of working in an JOA/PSA environment
