Management Sciences for Health is recruiting a Health Data Analyst, to be based in Luanda, Angola.

Duties
  • Data Entry Responsibilities: Insert patient and service data by inputting text based and numerical information from source documents within time limits
  • Compile, verify accuracy and sort information according to priorities to prepare source data for computer entry
  • Review data for deficiencies or errors, correct any incompatibilities if possible and check output
  • Research and obtain further information for incomplete documents
  • Apply data program techniques and procedures
  • Generate reports, store completed work in designated locations and perform backup operations
  • Data Analysis Responsibilities: Understand health care operations and systems in Angola
  • Pull and integrate data from disparate sources (for example behavior, community or clinical service data)
  • Evaluate and pre-process raw information
  • Delve into data to discover discrepancies and patterns
  • Work with the HIS Advisor to build models that capture a wide range of the project’s health operations
  • Present and explain information in an accessible way for consumption of patients and civil society organizations
  • Suggest ways to both increase quality and reduce inefficiencies
  • Collaborate with management and internal teams to implement and evaluate improvements
Requisites
  • University degree in Health Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst in Health
  • Minimum of 3 years hand on experience in data analysis and visualization methods
  • Understanding of the health care system in Angola
  • Experience in computer programming, design of open cloud systems, DHIS2
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving aptitude
  • Understands the HIV prevention, care and treatment-related needs in Angola
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding public health issues among key populations in Angola
  • Excellent Portuguese oral and written communication; fluency in English ideal
  • Ability to travel within country or region and internationally if needed
  • Desire to promote the human rights of FSWs, MSM and Transgender individuals
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and complete numerous tasks with a high degree of organization and limited resources
  • Demonstrated experience working with civil society organizations to plan and implement health-related activities
  • Demonstrated experience of proactively identifying risk, addressing issues and appropriately communicating these to the project senior staff
  • Demonstrated experience of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different organizations and cultures
  • Ability to meet deadlines with strong attention to consistency, detail, and quality
