Operations Manager Provinces

DT Group - Trading Logistics is recruiting a Operations Manager Provinces, to be based in Luanda, Angola.

Duties
  • To respond to management about operational costs of each agency
  • To lead a team composed by operations supervisors and drivers
  • To ensure that control procedures on vehicle and driver condition, product and assets theft, and fatigue are being effectively applied by local teams
  • To ensure that operational procedures on loading, driving and unloading are being effectively applied by local teams
  • To detect drivers that may be underperforming (damaging their vehicles, thefts, non-respect for fatigue procedures), and to ensure that proper disciplinary actions are performed when non-compliant incidences occur
  • To require from Maintenance timely repairs on trucks and accessories; to implement actions plans that lead to better performance on vehicle conditions and thus maintenance costs reduction
  • To adjust drivers and fleet across the several TFU sites, by type and number, according to delivery forecasts and local requirements
  • To track absenteeism trends on the team, to be proactive on team changes and accurate on recruitment
  • To identify and develop partnerships with service providers at provinces, such as transport subcontractors, security companies, truck parking, and companies/entities that may be helpful in case of accidents (cranes, cleaning, fire departments, police departments, local governments)
  • To develop and to monitor an efficient customer visit plan for supervisors and to ensure that proper and timely actions are being performed as to prevent operational issues
  • To control the use of accessories and to ensure the right level of accessories
  • Proactive response to non-compliance with geofencing, overspeed, fatigue and product/assets integrity
  • To prevent from product loss with actions aligned with supervisors
  • Vehicle auditing : to develop an efficient vehicle auditing plan for supervisors and to ensure that proper and timely actions are being placed to prevent / correct issues on the vehicles and sanction damagers
  • To present weekly and monthly reports on local operations, regarding service level, trucks and drivers usage, eco-driving, safe driving
  • To lead incident investigation and to develop plans to reduce risk on provinces
    to identify, with scheduling and supervisors, the road problematics and to define (both for our subcontractors and owned truck operation) valid secure sites to stop / rest on the road as well as geofencing parameters
  • To lead corrective actions in case of road accidents - emergency response, cleaning of accident area, trucks and product removal,
  • Theft Action Plan : to lead in provinces the implementation of procedures/actions that have been defined with management for theft prevention
  • To lead investigations in case of product or assets theft; to define the person that is in charge of theft investigation and to validate the method to be used
  • To ensure that OBC is being used effectively
  • To audit subcontractors at provinces – vehicle and drivers condition, fatigue management, trip monitoring, speed control, loading and unloading processes
  • To interact effectively with HR on recruitment needs, holidays scheduling, payroll and discipline issues
  • To make sure we employ trustable people in provinces, approve investigation about candidates (to get references on previous employers)
  • To ensure that right and continuous training programs are being held by supervisors to their drivers on HSE, safe driving, geo-fencing, operational procedures, vehicle checking and primarily maintenance

Requisites
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, knowledge of enterprise resource systems and transportation management and scheduling systems
  • Knowledge of goods transportations scheduling, operative and safety processes
  • Good English level, both written and spoken
  • Accurate data entry and typing skills
  • knowledge of administration and clerical processes
  • Good analytical and reporting skills
  • Leadership and good communication skills
