Malaria Consortium is recruiting a Technical Director/ Malaria Specialist, to be based in Luanda, Angola.
Requisites
- Degree in Medicine (preferred), or degree in Veterinary Medicine
Postgraduate qualification in public health, epidemiology, international health or related discipline. A PhD would be an added advantage
- A strong background in malaria prevention and treatment programmes is essential
- Substantial experience implementing public health programs, with some of that experience in malaria control in Angola or other parts of sub-Saharan Africa
- Experience and understanding of the Angolan health systems context
- Experience in planning, implementation, data management, of a large, multi-year project
- Strong technical knowledge and skills in malaria control and comfortable being a technical leader in this regard
- Familiar with public health principles
- Familiar with monitoring and evaluation of large scale malaria control programmes
- Excellent writing, reporting and presentation skills
- Strong analytical ability
Excellent project management and planning skills
- Good budgeting skills
- Good communication skills with a variety of audiences inside and outside the organisation
- Able to delegate efficiently and technically support teams with no direct line management responsibility over them
- Strong skills in negotiating with and engaging Ministry of Health Officials at all levels of the health system
- Must be able to read and write in English with professional proficiency
- Excellent personal and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively with peers and teams located physically away from the position holder
